RE: Hankook tires

Had a friend who says he had a pair on a rickshaw once...they were all right..doubt I'd put em on my motor home.....:B Hate to break the news to everyone-BUT these tires are OEM on most Ford products. Yeah! And look where Ford is too...:E I have them on my 2007 FORD Edge.. Not one problem here. Don't know anything about them on a motor hom. So are we FORD bashing now Sully??? You never cease to amaze me... Look where chrysler is too...

RE: generator

You may want to check your oil levels. There is a low oil sensor that will either cause the engine to start and die shortly after. OR I have heard that some will pulse as the oil level flipflops with the crank... Just a piece of free advice.. :) Good luck and keep us posted

RE: Help!!! Generator acting up.

If you are under a warranty, I'd find a dealer and have it diagnosed / fixed. I would hope that it would be covered. It sounds like either a air - Fuel mixture issue or a govenor issue. A govenor with a bad spring will cause a small engine to surge or rev. You may wabt to check the oil level too. The 5500 has a low oil shut off. It may be just on the low side causing the engine to do goofy things... Good luck and keep us posted

RE: Maiden Voyage here we come!

learn by your mistakes... We all did. Camp in your drive way first. If you forget anything, you can just go get it. We tried our first TT in the driveway. Told kids that under NO cicrumstances are you to go into the house. Practice makes perfect.. I like to practice. ;) When you DO venture out, be sure to camp near a Walmart. You know... for the little things... :)

RE: Renting Out RV??

Our motor home is exactly that... OURS... In no way shape or form would I rent/lend ours to anyone. My DS won't even ask to borrow one of our 3 cars... I'd really think this over. Good luck and best wishes...

RE: MSN says RV vacations thrifty

Soapbox mode ON Our last trip to Sheridan WY and the badlands and all points inbetween STILL COST less than flying, hotelling and eating every meal out. Total cost was only around $1800.00 give or take $50.00 including fuel, campgrounds a few meals out and touristy stuff. Every one talks about depreciation. We all know what it is and its afact of life ALMOST everything we own depriciates... If it has wheels it depreciates. Some vehicles quicker than others. I will still continue to RV to save $ on vacations. We have been doing this for years now. My SIL and BIL flew thier family of 4 from Montana, rented a car and stayed at a hotel in downtown Branson. Their hotel bill alone was $918.00 WE drove the MOHO With my MIL and FIL. They stayed at the hotel tooin a separate room. We stayed in the state park for 8 nights. Our lodging... $168.00. Coupled with the fuel toget there and home... $400.00 Oh... if you include the oil change that *I* DID MY SELF... after the WY trip, $105.00 (I bought a k&n air filter) So Depreciate all you want. I know what *I* APPRECIATE.. Soapbox mode OFF Have a great rest of the summer...

RE: I have no clue what I'm asking but I would like your help!

May I add a couple more questions??? What is the gas mileage any of you are getting on your motorhomes? Is there any difference in gas mileage between a diesels or gas? Thanks again!!! We have a gas coach. We routinely get between 7.0 and 8.5 mpg. Not much different than your current set up. however, We tow a dinghy that gets almost 22 mpg. Once we get there, we park the coach and drive the toad. Diesel folks will report MPG a bit higher. Diesel coachs are heavier and hold the road quite well and have a heavier towing capacity. They are also much quieter in the cockpit. These have their "Gotchas" too. Maintenance is a bit higher on DPs You have the perfect rig now being its all paid for. However you can use interest, Personal property taxes (If appicable for your state) as deductions from your yearly donation to the government if buying new or financing. We were very happy, I repeat... VERY HAPPY :D to have this "Option"... I almost went diesel this year but the price flip flop between gas and Diesel talked me out of it. We adore our Challenger very much. We haven't had any major problems (Knocking on wood)with our coach. Some folks say that we are the exception. Make a budget, factor in cost of a towable vehicle and the components needed to tow and go from there.... You will NEVER be ahead of the game. RVing is a lifestyle choice. It will cost you $$$ any way you decide to go. Some say its the most expensive, enjoyable hobby you can choose... :) If you are looking at class A gas, Damon has an entry level model, the Daybreak that has many comforts and is a bunk house as well. Folks here holler, FLOORPLAN,FLOORPLAN,FLOORPLAN!!! Pick a few dealers and go from there. Good luck and welcome to the Class A or C world...

RE: Help- basement door seals leak

Can you adjust the door catches? Just wondering if you can... If not, I think you can pick up new weather stripping material from any Autoparts store. Good luck and keep us posted...

RE: Our first breakdown, info for DP owners

I think that is why a walk around at every stop is very important. I do a walk around and play peekaboo under the Coach at every food or fuel stop and rest area. Years ago I found that the boat I was towing had bounced up on the coupler enough to shear the pin keeping the coupler closed... I would have hated to lose the boat and other imaginable havoc over a $.15 pin... Good Catch... and a lucky one at that!!! Thanks for posting!!!

RE: Oil usage way down

Fuel here in STL has dropped almost $.55/gal since I RETURNED from our out west trip... Go Figger... :) I am just happy to see it coming down. I doubt it will ever hit 3.00/gal tho... My FIL and I have a bet going...

RE: RV dump install at home - tips needed.

I have a clean out in our front yard. I use a Macerator Pump if I have to dump at home. No biggie.... Just hook up the macerator, a dedicated 5/8" garden hose, yank the handle and apply water pressure. Easy... But if you have to dig a hole... Have fun... :)

RE: WOW, what a shock!

Our F53 / V10 routinely reports a 7.0 - 8.5 mpg. Towing or not... AC on or not.. BUT running the Genny with roof air drops the mpg considerably. We run between 60 - 65 depending on traffic. Our best was in 06 crossing KS. No AC or Genny. We were averageing about 9.0. I keep the tire pressure up and the BIG TOE on.. My $.02 worth...

RE: Too complacent, then something else needs fixing….

We make a list of fixes/add ons while we are out. THEN I triage them. Like... Okay... WHen we get home, I am gonna.... (Instert menial task kere)... We take everything out of MOHO from the trip... Take a few days to mull the list over... Take everything BACK to MOHO and begin the triage'd tasks... It works for me... When the simplest of tasks become big issues, I simply state, OUT LOUD... IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO BE THIS HARD $#%@$!^(%%^#$!#! :)
